Success as the Ipswich Building Society Twilight Road Races sweep through the streets of Ipswich for the third year
The 10k and 5k Twilight Road Races have once again roared through the streets of Ipswich for the third time this summer. More than 1,700 people took part in what is now one of Suffolk's most popular annual running events.
The event enjoyed a successful launch in 2015, when almost 1,000 people took to the start line at Suffolk New College. A year later, the second annual races attracted a further 300 participants.
The race is organised by Ipswich JAFFA in association with Ipswich Borough Council, Ipswich Building Society and Suffolk New College. It takes place on a flat, town centre course, with prizes on offer to top finishers in both races. The 5k race is open to men capable of running the distance inside 20 minutes, and women able to finish within 22 minutes. Ensors, a leading firm of Chartered Accountants & Tax Advisors in East Anglia, returned as the official t-shirt sponsor, while Inspire Suffolk returned as the charity partner.
The event is attracting world-class athletes including Team GB runners Eilish McColgan, who ran in the 2017 World Championships in London and 800 metre runner Michael Rimmer.
Twilight 2018 will take place on Friday 3 August 2018.
