"It cannot be disputed that Suffolk needs to increase its performance in education from primary level right through to higher education. Suffolk County Council's Raising the Bar programme provides a start to this process and attainment levels in the County have seen an increase as a result. However, the programme needs to ensure momentum quickens pace to ensure these improvements continue and are sustainable. The recent success of the City Deal bid for Ipswich will also support this drive for higher attainment as we work with local businesses to create more Apprenticeship and post 16 learning opportunities. Both projects will help to ensure that future generations in Suffolk are educated to the highest level and have the relevant skills to be successful in the work place."
